Freedom Academy South Caucasus is an initiative by Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Caucasus to conduct specific workshops and online courses aimed on training the young trainers and speakers from liberal organizations and parties of the region in using the "train-the-trainer" approach.

A train-the-trainer model enables experienced personnel to show a less-experienced instructor how to deliver courses, workshops and seminars. A train-the-trainer workshop can build a pool of competent instructors who can then teach the material to other people. In the past FNF South Caucasus Office frequently relied on single trainers, who were invited either locally of from overseas to conduct workshops, while it did not influence the quality of the workshops and it remained high, it is not logistically feasable. There are a huge number of benefits to "train-the trainer" model.

  • Instead of relying on one individual to go through a lengthy training process, it will be possible to build a team of instructors and speakers so your training initiatives can be accomplished in a shorter amount of time and in local languages.
  • At the same time, the speakers will have all the tools concerning not only what to teach, but how to teach.
  • Put the training into the context of the organization and improve the relevancy.
  • Improve the partner retention by allowing them to feel like an important part of the organization.

From 1-4 June, FNF organized first ever event of the Freedom Academy session in the ancient capital of Georgia, Mtskheta, where Freedom Academy participants were hosted by Wulf Pabst and FNF South Caucasus in order to train as future facilitators and speakers of Liberal ideas and European values in the Caucasus region. During the intense workshop sessions, participants went over core ideas behind liberal values and best ways to communicate with their audiences and lay the groundwork for future topic discussions, specifically, online seminars and new workshops until 2019.

It is an intention of FNF to hold 8 more seminars/workshops on "Train-the-trainer" topic, specifically tailored to increase the skills of the participants. In 2017, the selected group will undego two additional workshops and online courses to prepare for the years 2018, 2019.
